Coming Back as a Man

In this fifth single from the album The Shocking Miss Emerald, Caro Emerald spins a fantasy of revenge on unreliable male lovers by playing them at their own game. Dressing it up in plenty of barbershop 7ths for contest-suitability has the effect of giving it additional backbone and drama, which are enhanced by a motif of octave leaps in the lead line introduced in the embellishments.
