Exciting News!
Just a short one today to share some news. I have just been offered, and accepted, the role of MD for Rainbow Voices, to start in September 2024. Rainbow Voices are an SATB choir for LGBT+ people and their friends, based in South Birmingham but with a catchment area across the West Midlands. Their MD of the last five years, Rosie Howarth, has had to move on, and I am enjoying a smooth and well-organised handover, finding the choir in good shape both vocally and in spirits. (Interesting how often the two go together isn’t it?)
It is an exciting time to be joining the choir, as next year they celebrate their 30th anniversary, and so we’ll be straight into planning repertoire for that when I start. If you’re in the West Midlands and looking for more singing to do, it would be a good moment to hop on board for the ride.
Rainbow Voices rehearse on Tuesday evenings during the school terms, so this means that for any of my coaching clients who rehearse on Tuesdays, you now have a rather reduced choice of dates to book me. I’ve updated my availability calendar so you know which ones are available.
It’s been a long time since I’ve been the primary carer for a mixed voice ensemble, and I’m looking forward to this new adventure immensely. Rainbow Voices are committed to both maximum accessibility and the aspiration to high standards, and as I’ve never wanted to have to choose between those two ideals either it feels like a very compatible fit. Also, they are nice people to hang out with, but you’d guessed that already.
